Couples who are looking for entertainment at their wedding expect more than just a disco or a band. LED dance floors, starlit backdrops, magicians, firework displays and sky lanterns are all becoming more commonplace at wedding receptions, and it can be difficult to find something different. The UK Wedding Shows have got the inside information on a new concept in live interactive video and spoke to Andy from A&G Productions to find out more.
“We launched Groovy Heads officially in the UK with our first public appearance at the Sage in Gateshead on Easter Sunday, this is the first time that this type of entertainment has been seen in the North East. For anyone not familiar with this form of entertainment, I should probably explain the concept; Groovy Heads provides a live interactive video experience like no other, using green screen technology (the same technique used in Hollywood blockbusters) to take participants heads, make them larger than life and superimpose them into a music video. We have themed music videos featuring professional dancers which we superimpose the heads onto, and the effect is something quite hilarious to watch. This concept is huge in America and growing in other parts of the world and is available in the UK from Groovy Heads. The idea is simple, you choose from a popular selection of songs each one with its own themed video, you then take a seat in front of a green screen then simply move to the groove, no talent required, only your head!! Miming is optional if you know the words and you can take part as a solo performer or in a group of up to four people. We create an instant DVD of each participant to take home as a memento. There are 3 LCD screens set up for participants and guests to view the live performances and we can also playback the last performance as the next guests take their seats.
It is a form of entertainment like no other and guaranteed to have your wedding guests talking about it for weeks after the event. It is something for all ages and ability and an experience they will never forget and we can create a compilation of all of the performances to present to the hosts at the end of the night.”
We think it sounds ideal for bringing everyone together at a wedding reception, hen night or stag do and you can find out more from Andy and the team on 0800 678 5385 or visit their website and see some examples of the end result www.groovyheads.co.uk Andy and the team are also going to be exhibiting at the Harrogate and Newcastle Racecourse shows later in the year.

Brides are always looking to get married abroad and what better place than Cyprus, which is known as the Island of Love? The UK Wedding Shows spoke to Sharron Masoura from Exclusive Yacht Weddings about some of the advantages of getting married abroad.
Sharron says “I think there are lots of factors that influence a couples’ decision to get married abroad, but two considerations that are top of the list are to have fantastic weather and fabulous photographs. It is an opportunity to get married and not then have to travel to a separate destination to have a honeymoon, and it is also a chance for guests to enjoy a holiday with the newly weds. When you also consider that a wedding abroad can cost 35% of the equivalent UK wedding it is not surprising that weddings outside the UK are increasing in popularity.”
Exclusive Yacht Weddings are one of the longest established Wedding companies in Cyprus and are specialists who can provide an amazing day of luxury and a fairytale wedding at an affordable price. Their fully qualified wedding planners are British so there is no need to worry about a language barrier and they can organise anything from a Town Hall Wedding, Hotel Venue or Church Service through to a wedding on a Yacht.
Sharron comments “We are here to provide a wedding to remember and nothing is too much trouble for the team, who will look after you no matter what your requirements.
Memories of a wedding on a yacht will not only last forever for the Bride & Groom, but for all of their guests as well and we offer some fabulous fully inclusive packages. You can meet the team when we exhibit at The UK Wedding Shows events at St George’s Hall in Liverpool, GMex in Manchester, Metro in Newcastle and EventCity in Manchester. Or simply call us on +357 269 102 00 or + 357 994 594 45”

Recent years have seen a real trend for weddings abroad and one of the main factors is that couples want to have fantastic pictures in a great location, without the interference of the Great British Weather. One way to ensure that they get the very best results is to take the photographer with them to the wedding and we spoke to Michael from Fresh Photography who has been asked to cover several weddings outside of the UK.
“Getting married abroad in an amazing location is a fantastic idea and something I seriously considered when thinking about the best location for my wedding 6 years ago. You can usually predict the climate a little better and with the added extra of the ‘holiday feel’, your wedding abroad will be a unique and memorable occasion. I have a wedding coming up in Sorrento in Italy this June which is one of my favourite destinations anyway, so I really am looking forward to a fabulous shoot.
Having spoken to many couples who consider the idea of a destination wedding they soon realise that they don’t have to compromise on their wedding photography. For 2011/12 I am offering a Destination Photography package at the same price as a UK wedding package. The only difference is that the couple must also cover my flights, accommodation and travel costs.
I think the main reason couples have chosen to take me with them is the reassurance they get from having a professional UK based photographer who they can deal with before the wedding. They can discuss all their ideas and be absolutely sure that they have complete confidence in the standard of work and my approach. It is also reassuring for them to know that they can call in any time after the wedding to see the images and discuss ideas for a story book or a canvas etc. I will be sharing some images of the Sorrento wedding in June to illustrate the difference a professional photographer can make. “
Michael can be contacted on 0800 0851080 and will be exhibiting with The UK Wedding Shows in October 2011 at Manchester Central.

Forget chocolate fountains – the latest must-have accessory for that special event is the digital retro photo booth from Snaparazzi Photo Booths.
If you’re looking for a unique way to capture the fun and happiness of your wedding reception, photo booths from Snaparazzi are the perfect way to make your event one to remember.
The initial idea for Snaparazzi came to its founder Ross Kane on a boring Sunday afternoon as he lazed around the family home. “I happened to browse through an old photo album and came across a black and white photo strip of my then teenage parents and a few of their long-haired hippy friends,” he explains. “That got me thinking… wouldn’t it be great if I had a photo strip of myself and my girlfriend.” And so, the Snaparazzi seed was planted.
Eighteen long months later and, after hundreds of long distance phone calls, twice as many emails and numerous setbacks and disappointments, Snaparazzi was finally born in January 2010– and became an instant hit. “We’ve been such a success at every party we’ve attended that the only worry we have is that we can’t help but steal the show!” Ross laughs.
Julia Myles, one of Snaparazzi’s former clients, comments: “The photo booth added so much fun to my daughter’s wedding. Every time I passed it there were several legs sticking out and hoots of laughter. There were always a few people outside the booth trying on the different hats, wigs and glasses – I really think there is a poser in us all! The one comment all the guests keep making is about how great the photo booth was. Groups of mates went in again and again and they all have a great souvenir of the day to take home.” Ross adds: “We pride ourselves on our vintage photo booths, and our passion to provide you with the authentic photo booth experience makes Snaparazzi the perfect touch for any big celebration or party. Snaparazzi’s professionalism and attention to detail are second to none – we’ll go that extra mile because we know just how important your big day is.”

Blushing brides are being encouraged to make their wedding day extra special by treating guests to a gift that will help beat breast cancer. Breast Cancer Campaign is calling on all brides to give guests a pink ribbon pin as a wedding favour. Not only are the pins a unique wedding gift, you will also be helping the charity continue funding vital breast cancer research.

In these days of globalisation, people are looking for a sense of community through their support of local businesses and services. This is true of couples who are planning their wedding and it can be useful to use a network of businesses when there is a particular theme in mind. Scott Foley who is a photographer based in the north west gave us some information about a new collective that has been set up with just this in mind.
“A couple of months ago my wife Amedea and I started chatting to Laura from Airyfairycupcakes in Didsbury, South Manchester, as we love the vintage vibe she creates with her cupcakes and the décor of the new Airyfairy Cake Boutique, which is due to open in March. One thing led to another and we decided to collaborate to celebrate all things vintage. A lot of other fantastic ladies who run successful local businesses heard about our idea and also decided to join forces with us. We decided to look for a couple with genuine vintage style and promote the collective by doing a photoshoot with them. We thought it would be a great idea to run a competition with a fabulous vintage themed experience as the prize and we are now looking for couples to enter via our websites. The prize includes all kinds of vintage elements such as a ride in a campervan, beautiful props for the shoot, cupcakes with all the trimmings and a fab retro venue for the setting. We will be posting some pictures of the shoot as an update on the story”
Couples can enter the competition at
